This Privacy Policy explains what information Clean Compute LLC ("Clean Compute," "we," "us") collects through our website, certification program, dashboards, badge, and related services (the "Service"), and how we use it. The Service is a business-to-business certification: our clients are companies, and the personal information we handle is primarily the business contact information of the people who represent them.
1. The Short Version
We collect the minimum needed to run a certification: who you are, how to contact you, your company's attested subscribed user count, and billing records. We never require or accept access to your systems, your end-customer data, or your revenue records — your monthly attestation is one number, provided by you. We don't sell personal information, and we don't share your details with our impact partners.
2. Information We Collect
Application and account information. Company name, website, your name, role/title, email address, company type, attested subscribed user counts, attestation confirmations (including the name and role of the person attesting, and timestamps), and anything you include in free-text fields.
Billing information. Payments are processed by Stripe. We receive and store billing records such as subscription status, invoice history, amounts, and payment outcomes. We do not receive or store full card numbers — those are handled by Stripe under its own privacy policy.
Service records. Your monthly count confirmations, impact allocations, badge status history, registered badge domains, dashboard activity needed to operate the Service, emails we send you and their delivery status, and any correspondence with us (including evidence pack requests).
Technical information. Standard log and device data when you use the website or dashboard (IP address, browser type, pages viewed) and essential cookies needed for login sessions and site function. We keep analytics minimal and do not use advertising trackers.
What we deliberately do not collect. Your end-customers' personal data; access credentials to your systems; your revenue figures; or any billing-system integration. If you send us supporting evidence for a count (Section 5 of the Terms), we ask that it be anonymized and contain no end-customer data.
3. How We Use Information
- To review applications, verify counts, and operate the certification, ledger, badge, dashboard, and registry
- To bill subscriptions and manage payment issues, via Stripe
- To send Service communications: attestation prompts, receipts, monthly impact reports, certification status notices, and replies to your requests
- To maintain the integrity of the certification: audit records, misreporting reviews, and fraud prevention
- To improve the Service and fix problems
- To comply with legal obligations
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
4. What We Publish
For certification transparency, and with your consent given at signup, we publish on your public verification page and in the accreditation registry: your company name, logo, website link, certification status, commitment statement, member-since date, and verification ID. We do not publish your impact totals, your subscribed user counts, or the names or contact details of your team members.
5. Who We Share Information With
Service providers. Stripe (payments), our cloud hosting and database infrastructure, and our transactional email provider — each only to the extent needed to run the Service, under their own confidentiality and security obligations.
Impact partners. None of your information. Impact purchases are made by Clean Compute on a consolidated basis; our reforestation and recovery partners do not receive client names, contact details, or any client-identifying information.
Legal. We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or integrity of Clean Compute, our clients, or the certification — and in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of the business, in which case this Policy continues to apply to the transferred information.
6. Data Retention
We retain account and contact information while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward. Certification records — attested counts, allocation ledger entries, badge status history, and receipts — are retained after cancellation because they are the permanent audit record of the certification and of impact already funded. Billing records are retained as required by tax and accounting law. You may request deletion of personal contact information (Section 8); ledger and certification records are retained in company-level form.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect information: encrypted connections, access controls limiting each client account to its own records, role-restricted administrative access, and audit logging of administrative actions. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we design the Service to hold as little sensitive information as possible in the first place.
8. Your Rights
Depending on where you are located (including under the GDPR, UK GDPR, or US state privacy laws such as the CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, email trees@cleancompute.eco — we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising privacy rights.
9. International Transfers
Clean Compute is based in the United States, and information is processed and stored in the United States (and in the locations used by our service providers). Where we receive personal information from other jurisdictions, we handle it in accordance with this Policy and applicable transfer requirements.
10. Children
The Service is for businesses and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
11. Cookies
We use essential cookies for login sessions and core site functionality, and minimal analytics to understand site usage. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. Your browser settings can restrict cookies, though login-dependent features require the essential ones.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email or dashboard notice before taking effect, and the effective date above will be updated.
